Karunakar at FOSS.IN/2005, Bangalore, December 2005 College Presentations by Broadsheet Collective: 2005 1) Video with Chai and other stories: Conversations over a broadsheet, Department of Sociology, Hindu College, University of Delhi, 1st February 2005: 2) Beyond Borders, British Council, 4th February 2005: Two facilitators participated in a panel discussion on 'Globalisation and Culture' as part of the 'Beyond Borders' initiative of the British Council with college students from different colleges of Delhi University. 3) Conversations over a broadsheet, Gargi College, Delhi University, 24th February 2005: Gargi college is an undergraduate women's institution affiliated to Delhi University. facilitators from Sarai met with students of the English department for a discussion on copyright and creativity. 4) The Women's Development Cell, Lady Sri Ram College, August 2005: The editorial collective met with students for a discussion around Sarai.txt : The State you Are In which attempts to explore through what registers can we try to articulate the matrices of anxiety that are part of everyday living? How does movement, space, design change because of fear, uncertainty, anxiety? 5) Department of Journalism; Lady Sri Ram College, September 2005: This interaction was a general presentation about Sarai's thematic concerns, in which the broadsheet as a public form was also discussed. 6) School of Community Medicine, Jawarharlal Nehru University, September 2005: The collective had a lively conversation around issues of claims to space, surveillance, access restriction and urban transformation. 7) Parivartan Club, Kirori Mal College, September 2005: The Parivartan Club is a student's initiative for social change. The collective met for an interaction with students around the themes of displacement and contestation around city space. 8) Department of English, Dayal Singh College, December 2005: The collective met for an interaction around Sarai.txt 2.4: Current, which explores the social life of technologies of communication. 9) IndLinux User's Group, December 2005: A conversation around the same broadsheet was had with the Linux User's group. In particular the conversation focused on the question of imaginations of “social software” and the relationship between users and producers in the context of FLOSS practices. |
