  •  Jason Kahn

Jason is a sound artist based in Zurich. Jason Kahn is a sound artist and a musician whose work is a mix of electronic and acoustic sound sources, produced with minimal percussion, a laptop or an analogue synthesizer. In recent years he has created several sound installations using field recordings and sound waves as concrete forms. He has held exhibitions and concerts in museums, galleries, art spaces, festivals and clubs throughout Europe, North and South America, Australia, Egypt, Hong Kong, India, Israel, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, Turkey and South Africa. He has also produced sound pieces for film, dance and radio. In 1998 he started the label ‘cut’. He worked with found sounds in the streets of Delhi and collaborated with sound artist Ish, based in Sarai.

 

  • Andreas Pagnes and Verena Stenke

Verena and Andreas have worked together since 2006 as VestAndPage, mainly in the field of Performance and Video Art. VestAndPage exhibit their art works in Europe, Asia, the United States and South America. VestAndPage are idea‐makers and coordinators of the current global art initiative “FRAGILE ‐ global performance chain journey”. They both live and work in Florence, Italy and Neckarsulm, Germany. They engaged with the writings from Cybermohalla Ensemble, along with texts from Sarai Readers to produce performances and videos. They also performed in the Sarai exhibition space and made a film.

sin ∞ fin is a movie on Performance Art- a movie out of any filmatic genre, set between reality and vision. “Performances at the Holy Centre” is Episode #2, realized during the residence at Sarai CSDS Centre for the Studies of Developing Societies in New Delhi, Kashmir and Uttarakhand, India, in March-April 2011.

  • Silke Eva Kästner

Silke Eva Kästner is interested in temporary works in public spaces which change the atmosphere and the communication at site. Strolling through the streets she gets familiar with the characteristics of a place before she develops a concept for it. 

During her residency with Sarai, Silke worked in cooperation with various artists in an ongoing dialogue, through collaborations that caused more works: installation, text or image. 

An event at Sarai she named "Nalmot"- which means "embrace" in Kashmiri language- included artists Aleph Meme , Gowhar Yaqoob , Iram Ghufran, Alana Hunt, Inder Salim , Minakshi Watts , Mini Kumari, Ranjiit, Ondi McMaster, Silke Eva Kästner , Showkat Kathjoo, Vivek Raina, Neha Tickoo, Zubair Darzi, Nitasha Kaul. Silke's residency at Sarai Delhi was the first phase of Charlie. Points. Kashmir, a long term Art exchange Project with artists from Kashmir, in cooperation with Inder Salim, supported by IFA.
