Our ongoing translation programme of key texts from English to Hindi will continue as before. This activity is yielding a steady stream of significant texts that considerably enrich the domain of discourse and debate in the contemporary Hindi public sphere.

This year we want to enlarge the ambit of our translation activity at Sarai to include the process of translation to Bengali and Urdu. This will also include translation if selected articles from the Sarai Reader series in Bengali and their compilation and publication in a book form.

We will inaugurate the process of translating key texts that are necessary for a comprehensive understanding of the kind of theoretical engagements that Sarai has entered into over the last six years into Urdu. With Bengali and Urdu, we will be able to reach out not only to the substantial Bengali and Urdu speaking populations in India (especially the Muslim minority in the case of Urdu) but also to a readership that we know will be interested in the kind of work that we are doing in Pakistan and in Bangladesh. This will help foster stronger and more durable ties between like minded initiatives in civil society, culture and intellectual life in South Asia as a whole.

To diversify and deepen a production of translation at Sarai, we will launch a new programme of Translation Fellowships in the coming phase.
