Alternative Law Forum (ALF) Bangalore
The Alternative Law Forum is a group of lawyers and legal researchers based in Bangalore active in the area of human rights law, advocacy, legal aid, and research into various aspects of the interface between law and society. Sarai and ALF have ongoing collaborations in research on intellectual property law and contemporary culture.
Collaborative for the Advancement of Studies in Urbanism through Mixed-Media (CASUM-m), Bangalore
CASUM_m is a collective of urban researchers and architects based in Bangalore. CASUM_m members collaborate with Sarai on research issues pertaining to urban transformation.
Collective Research Initiatives Trust (CRIT), Mumbai
CRIT (Collective Research Initiatives Trust) is a group of architects, scholars, technicians and artists who have worked together over the past seven years in Mumbai. CRIT was established in early 2003 with the aim of undertaking research, pedagogy and intervention on urban spaces and contemporary cultural practices in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. CRIT regards this vast urban realm as its laboratory and terrain for articulating a collaborative and critical urbanism. CRIT's understanding of urbanism is based on the recognition that everyday exchange between disciplines and across sectors is the basic condition of metropolitan environments, and that collective research is essential to transforming urban spaces and civic life.
CRIT collaborates with Sarai on research, pedagogy and dialogues on urbanism and the transformation of city spaces.
A workshop, titled "METROLOG(UE):Discussions on Emerging Urbanism in India" was co-organised by Sarai and CRIT in Mumbai in December 2006. For details, go to http://www.metrologue.net
Indlinux is a network of free software programmers dedicated to the localization of free software in Indic languages and advocacy for free software in the Indian context. Sarai and the Indlinux group have collaborated on a number of localization initiatives, events, seminars and pedagogical projects.
Khetro is a Kolkata based initiative to foster an open space for cross-disciplinary dialogue and for the implementation of innovative ideas that will explore, exchange and implement within the domains of community culture, old and new media, and ecological existence.
Khetro and Sarai collaborate on the publication of a collaborative broadsheet, events and translation activities.
V.V.Giri National Labour Institute, (VVGNLI) NOIDA
The V.V, Giri National Labour Institute is an institute dedicated to research in labour history and building an archive of the working class and the labour movement in India. Sarai has collaborated with NLI in building an online archive of labour in India <www.indialabourarchives.org>
t0 (Netbase - Institute for New Culture Technologies)
t0/Netbase is a Vienna based initiative that produces interdisciplinary research and practice on the interface between new media, technology, culture and politics. t0/Netbase and Sarai have collaborated on the World Information City Festival at Bangalore <http://world-information.org/wio/program/bangalore>, in November 2005. People from Sarai have participated in seminars and events produced by t0/Netbase in Vienna on several occasions.

The Institute of Network Cultures, Amsterdam, set up in 2004 is dedicated to researching internet and new media based networks. Sarai has collaborated with the production of 'Incommunicado' <http://www.incommunicado.info/> a working conference on information technology in June 2005
Delhi Film Archive
The Delhi Film Archive grew out of the 'Films for Freedom' campaign against censorship by independent and documentary filmmakers. Currently, the DFA is a lnetwork of Delhi based filmmakers and film enthusiasts, with a special focus on documentary, short and experimental film culture. Sarai and DFA have collaborated on seminars and screenings on censorship, freedom of expression and documentary & independent film.
