Slow Pictures: Theo Firmo

"Slow Pictures" is a series of videos that seek possible narratives in apparently still images. They are about bringing up universes from common places, and odysseys  from moments.

Theo Firmo (São Paulo, Brazil, 1983) is graduated bachelor in Sciences of Communication by São Judas Tadeo University (São Paulo, 2004) with major in semiotics. He has later taken master studies in Semiotics of Culture and its application on video and music. He lives and works in Madrid, where he gets most of his images to work on. His works have been featured in festivals such as BAC (Barcelona Contemporary Art Festival), NETMAGE (Bologna Audiovisual Festival) and publications such as FAKE Magazine and WLTF. His studies on liguistics and semiotics have driven him on a research about the narrative speech that is the main drive behind his video work, which seeks possible narratives in apparently still images. Based on questions of memory and expectations, it approaches an organic time, where we remember what we wanted for the future, and we can see the change but can no longer describe the process.
