Listening Staircase

A 2 hour audio loop made of diverse audio submissions to the archive. This was placed in the staircase leading to the main exhibition area. The sound was an invitation, an exposition. The audios consisted of early sound recordings of Hindustani classical singers, interviews with actors form the vibrant television industry, rare experimental Jazz recordings, street music in Mumbai, sounds form a corridor, recordings from an FM radio station, a story teller narrating a daastan. Each section was an independent entity, yet together they produced a rich collage of sound-scapes that make diverse auditory worlds speak to each other at a sensorial level.
