NewsRack is a highly customizable tool for tracking news in specific topics and archiving the tracked news for long-term use.  It allows users  to specify what news sources to monitor, what kind of news items to look out  for, and how the tracked news needs to be archived.  As part of this process, users specify a taxonomy of news topics and write news filters for them.

By implicitly making all gathered news publicly accessible and  providing output RSS feeds for every news category, NewsRack benefits a much  wider audience than the narrow user base that has written news filters.
