Over the years we have collaborated with the loose platform of volunteers known as Indlinux in creating basic input methods, rendering mechanisms, browsing facilities, online and offline text-conversion tools, text to speech, spellcheckers, publishing softwares, and devices for everyday computer and net usage like blogging, discussion lists and so on. The public architecture of Free Software allows us to localise computing tools in any language, even the ones that do not qualify for market or state support. Moreover, we work with the belief that computers connected to the net are a mass media in their own right and the menu needs to be  read not only in the local tongue of the user but the language itself should be accessible. This can not be achieved by the expert-driven approach that has over the years produced an artifcial jargon. A mass media must speak a lucid popular tongue. For this we try to make the process of localisation as broad-based as possible by inviting a range of actual users of language by way of workshops and testing in the community labs and colleges.
