Madhu Ranawat, the marketing head of Sun Construction, in-charge of Valley Flower Condominiums, gave me the number of Meenu, the secretary of Mr. Nishtha Jain, the head of Sun Construction, the man who conceived Valley Flower Condominiums and roped in a Cigerrete Major to invest money. This was in early April. On the first call Meenu took my interview, literally. She asked about the project, about Sarai, about CSDS, my background, my interest in research, my educational qualifications, about what I want to do with the research, why is Mr. Jain important. After satisfying herself with all the answers she told me that Mr. Jain is unavailable at the moment but can be contacted next week. Next week when I called she told me that he is on a three state trip. He is surveying Rajhasthan, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh and can be contacted after ten days later. Later she were to tell me that Mr. Jain is going on a three week tour to America and she is accompanying him.

After a month, in mid May I called on Menu only to be rebutted by 'He is busy.' For next three weeks she didn't answer calls. Some time in June she offered a compromise, if I let go of Mr. Jain then she could let me interview, the financial head of the company. She told me, he was with Mr. Jain, since the very beginning and knows about the nity gritties of the business as much. I agreed for an appointment on the last Saturday of June. On Friday evening Menu called me to convey that the interview is being postponed because of some undue reason.

Except for one occasion, on every phone call I made, Menu would be extremely courteous,. Every time she would promise me that my appointment is the number one priority for her and she would personally see to it that I get to meet Mr. Jain.

Mr.Jain would always figure in menu's side of conversation as either a great man, a busy man, an extremely important person or is taking care of many things, is in a rush.

I haven't called Menu since July.
