  • Passport woes: The Times of India, 15th Feburary 2007. BANGALORE: While a passport gives you a very valid identity, the loss of it can be a nightmare. And if you have already booked tickets to travel, then your plans may come to a naught as there are no quick-fix solutions to get a duplicate. It may take days, sometimes even weeks, to get it.

NEW DELHI: Indian women who marry NRIs will now get legal proof of their wedlock if the government has its way.The ministries of women and child development (WCD) and overseas Indian affairs are pushing for a mandatory certification of marriage on the wife's passport.

Emigration officials at the Cochin International Airport Ltd. today detained a passenger for possessing a forged passport. A resident of Jaffna in Sri Lanka, Mr. Arumugam (26) was intercepted on arrival at the airport. He was to travel to Paris via Abu Dhabi by the Gulf Air flight GF 271. He was allegedly using the passport of a Pondicherry resident, Jean Paul by replacing the photograph.
  • International aviation group offers to convert passports to e-passports: The Indian Express, 7th feburary 2007.NEW DELHI, FEBRUARY 6: The International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) has offered technical assistance to India to implement a project on converting passports to e-passports. The offer was made during ICAO’s Secretary-General Taieb Cherif’s meeting with Civil Aviation minister Praful Patel today.

What denies you access into these hallowed portals as it were?It could be a sudden meeting of the passport office on working days.
