  • TECH EFFECT: The Indian Express, 28th January 2007. The IL&FS, however, is not taking chances.   • Militants ‘forged’ ID of Army man to buy SIM, set off cell-bomb: The Indian Express, 10th Feburary 2007. ...It has been found that militants fraudulently procured the cellphone’s Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card on a fake Army man’s name, photograph in uniform, unit name, address and even faked a certificate with a stamp of his superior, a Lieutenant Colonel.

  • Metro increase Travel time by 30 mins: The Times of India,31st January, 2006:" The last time the journey time was increased was in July when DMRC had added 6.2 km to its network. At that time, the Metro tokens and smart cards were programmed to allow the commuters to stay for 90 minutes on the system".

  • Two Indians equal Bush and Clinton:The Times of India,1st May 2006:" SKS Microfinance, the company of 37-year-old Akula, an NRI, uses advanced technology smart cards to make venture capital available to those in India living at less than $2 a day".

  • Vikram on the top:  The Times of India, 2nd May 2006:"Less recognisable is the face of Vikram Akula, the founder of SKS Microfinance, who is using advanced technology like smart cards to dispense loans to tens of thousands of India's needy".

  • Parliamentary panel discusses multi-purpose I-card: The Times of India, 31 August 2003:"The Parliamentary Consultative Committee of the home ministry devoted its meeting on Friday exclusively to Multi-purpose National Identity Card Project (MNIC)".

As a sign of inclusion in the NRC every Indian would be given a multipurpose national identity card (MNIC)".
